Project Initiative

The City of Vancouver Engineering Services has developed an extensive Asbestos Management Program to protect the health and safety of its employees and the public. To assist with the maintenance of the Asbestos Management Program, the City of Vancouver retained the services of R.J. & Associates to train their personnel in Asbestos Awareness and Asbestos Abatement procedures.

Responsibilities

R.J. & Associates has prepared and provided Asbestos Awareness Training for the various work crews of the City of Vancouver Engineering Services: Waterworks Operations Branch; Streets Operations Branch; Electrical and Traffic Operations Branch; and Sewers Operations Branch. The Asbestos Awareness Training is a three-hour in-class training session to equip participants with knowledge to understand the risks associated with asbestos, the type of materials suspect to contain asbestos, what to do in the event of a disturbance or spill, and the components and function of the Asbestos Management Program. In addition, R.J. & Associates has prepared and provided Asbestos Abatement Training to select work crews of the City of Vancouver Engineering Services: Waterworks Operation Branch; Sewer Operations Branch; and Streets Operations Branch. The Asbestos Abatement Training is a two-day course consisting of six hours of in-class lecture and ten hours of hands-on training. The training is specific to the tasks of each Branch in which they encounter Asbestos-Containing Materials in their day-to-day operations.
