Hastings Racecourse employees within the human resources and printing departments raised their concern regarding the indoor air quality within their work environments. Hastings Racecourse took the initiative to have an indoor air quality investigation conducted within these areas to identify any potential problems contributing to poor indoor air quality.
RJ & Associates initiated indoor air quality testing to determine if the common indoor air quality parameters were within the guidelines set out by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Standards. Data was collected with the use of calibrated instrumentation for several parameters including, temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, total particulate, and volatile organic compounds, for an established time period. Additionally, a visual assessment of each work area was conducted to identify potential harmful contributors, as well as employee interviews to evaluate individual concerns. All gathered information was compiled into a final report outlining the results and proposed recommendations on how to improve current indoor air quality within each work area.
